If all else fails, there is always “Macro”

A wet and miserable Saturday, not nice weather to really go anywhere, but there was the occasional gap between showers of rain and taking opportunity of a lull in the rain..

I sneakily attached by girlfriends  100mm L series macro lens to my 7D together with my Yongnuo Flash and ventured out into the wet yard to see what I  could find.

After scaring off a pretty moth, with a little over zealousness, entered into stealth mode in my quest for bugs.

Not really required for this caterpillar, as he was going nowhere quickly.

Although did find it interesting if you antagonised him (e.g. removed a leaf near him to get a better shot), these two red “feelers” would come out.

Not sure what their purpose is, not overly scarey, even when waved about in a menacing fashion.

Ok, stopped teasing the Caterpillar, and on the other side of the garden, found this small Grasshopper (Locust) slowly backing into the darkness of where the leaves come out from the plant, but the flash gave me the required light to capture him.

I did take a few more, and may process them another (rainy) day.

Cheers Dave

I have discovered I have a love for life and doing anything creative, and I am constantly striving to build, make, create and photograph things , I live my you can learn to do anything, but the hardest part is you d o not have time to do everything - follow my journey as I try and do as much as I can with the time I have. I live in the Gold Coast Hinterland, Queensland Australia, on top of a mall mountains, surrounded by thousands of acres of bush land. This is sight is a basically a diary of my day to day adventures, it will have everything from Portrait photo sessions, craft projects, yard word, Trail Cam footage.
