Revisiting the past – Ningi Sunrise 2009   Leave a comment

I have been running out of storage on my external hard drives, and decided instead of buying another one, would go back and delete some of the duplicate and poorer quality photos.

Of course all that made me do was rediscover old photos and want to edit them, regretting not shooting in RAW from the start.

A sunrise from 2009, at Pebble Beach, Ningi, which is near Bribie Island in Queensland.

Taken with 450D and 55-250 kit lens.

Something Different – Napoleonics Wargame Figures   1 comment

I have always had different hobbies over time, and used to play figure wargames, more of a painter then a player.

Have not really play/painted much for a number years.

I recently found this partly assembled unit of Napoleonic Old Guard figures, and decided to finish them.

Painted to my “wargaming” standard.

Makes me think I need 48 hour days t odo everything I want to.

Photo taken with 450D and 60mm Macro lens, with external flash

Now back to my photography hobby 🙂

Ma Ma Creek Cemetary   Leave a comment

It was election day last Saturday, so we stopped at Ma Ma Creek School to vote on the way out in our quest for Sunflowers, and a 20metre drive from where we parked we were at the Cemetary next door.

A very Tranquil place,

Not sure what is happening with the above image, maybe the building was not straight, spent a bit of time trying to correct  (what I thought was) lens distortion, but this is the best I could get it.

Love discovering new places in outback Queensland.

Dying Roses   1 comment

These flowers have been here for about a week, and their days are numbered, I thought I would capture their fading beauty before they go.

Taken with the 450D, 60mm Macro lens and external flash.

Revisiting the past ” The Road to Lake Eyre “   Leave a comment

Still going through the old photos from 2009, these all were taken with probably less then a months ownership of my first DSLR.

I probably did not learn to use it properly until over a year later ( sometimes I think I still do not know what I am doing)

This photo was taken on the road leading into Lake Eyre.

Lake Eyre itself was not what I expected , was so barren going in, a bit like you would expect a “Lunar” landscape to look like,  was hardly any birdlife, still do not regret the trip and would go back again if I ever got the chance.

Revisiting the past ” Kings Canyon” part 1   Leave a comment

The main purpose of my Central Australia trip in 2009, was to visit friends working at Kings Canyon.

I am still going through old photos and editing the better ones, more up to  mycurrent standard of processing.

Below are 5 photos from a walk through the Canyon itself.

You can see from the colour of the rocks, why they call it the :Red Centre”

I have saved my favourite of this lot to last.

Still have hundreds to go through.

Revisiting the past ” Alice Springs”   1 comment

I have not been out to take photo much over the last week.

So took the opportunity to revisit some older photos, in an attempt to sort through the “keepers” and delete a lot I will never do anything with.

So these are some of the first photos I took with my 450D when I got it mid 2009 for a trip to Central Australia, it was good to start going through them, and choosing a few to edit using my current knowledge.

The first two, I think were taken just outside of Alice Springs, and the last one in Alice Springs iteslf.

I took about 1500 photos in the 10 days I was out there, and will post some more over the coming days as I go through them.

Cheers Dave
