White Faced Heron – Nudgee Beach   Leave a comment

It has been while since I have blogged for various reasons – and have had some ongoing camera issues – well some of the issues might be me – so went out yesterday morning for a “testing ” session and ended up at Nudgee Beach.

I spotted this Grey Faced Heron in the Mangroves, and he behaved and did not fly away when I interrupted his hunting, insteadt just flew up into a tree for a clean while I loitered around below him.

Looks like I still have some issues with focussing – so more work to be done there.

But happy with these images.

Girraween Kookaburras   Leave a comment

We recently spent the long weekend camping at Girraween National Park, with some great friends.

As always looking to photograph everything of interest there.

Below are some of the Kookaburra photos I took.

In Flight

This one was taken just before the one above, and it is the baby taking off, after the parent gave it a Lizard it had just caught.

Then there is this one, could not resist the Jekyll/Hyde comparrison.

All taken with the 7D and 70-200 lens.

Still a heap more photos to process.

Hope you like them.

Australasian Gannets   Leave a comment

Another Bird from the “Inskip Experiance”

Ok, had to do some research to identify this bird, appears to be a Australasian Gannet, it would have been close to 50metres from where I was, so these images are pretty decents crops from the actual photos taken.

I am still pretty excited, as do not recall ever seeing one before, and was quite chuffed with the capture.

Now to research them even more and get some better images, I love the colour and look of these birds, and there spectacular fishing style.

All taken with 7D and 70-200mm Lens.

Seagulls – Yes Seagulls – Inskip Point.   Leave a comment

We were up at Inskip Point last weekend, to visit family on Holidays there, as always looking for “Birding” opportunities.

So being at the beach, there was Seagulls in abundance, and while waiting for more interesting victims, they were the obvious targets.

Taken with 7D and 70-200mm Lens

Pelicans   Leave a comment

Inskip Point had an abundance of Bird Life, so may continue posting them for a few days ( and also because I have had to work and not gone out and taken any more photos since (except a quick sunset last night).

So bird of choice for today, I thought should be the Pelican, it is Saturday here, and they seem a very “saturday” sort of bird.

Is there any photo that says weekend better then a photo of  aYacht, Pelicans, sand and water?

.

Okay, there should be more Pelican photos, but not saved on this hard drive, will have to do a second Pelican post then sometine later.

All taken with 7D and 70-200mm Lens

Ibis’s in the park, Macro Style   1 comment

I went to Roma Street last Friday on the way to work, for a look around and to check out Macro possiblities.

So set up for Macro, with 60mm Macro lens, of course I would get a birding opportunity.

I captured this Ibis sitting on top of this post, looking very regal.

And then he flew off.

As previously mentioned, these were taken with 60mm Macro lens on a 7D.

Ducks in the afternoon sun.   Leave a comment

We went to the local Duck Pond, last Sunday afternoon and I captured these Ducks  in the afternoon light.

I was using a Kenko 1.4 teleconvertor with the 70-200, to see if I could get some quality photos, verdict is ( if there is good light) yes, so may use this combination again.
