Skye (the Cat)   Leave a comment

We spend a bit of time at our close friends Ivan and Jules (of Jas Photography ) and I always look forward to seeing their beautiful cat Skye.

Skye is always willing to pose for a photo or too, in her Cat way ( which equates to total indifference).

Then we get the “Stretch” as I would rather be asleep.

Canon 7D and 60mm Macro lens (only because it was lready on the camera)

White Faced Heron – Nudgee Beach   Leave a comment

It has been while since I have blogged for various reasons – and have had some ongoing camera issues – well some of the issues might be me – so went out yesterday morning for a “testing ” session and ended up at Nudgee Beach.

I spotted this Grey Faced Heron in the Mangroves, and he behaved and did not fly away when I interrupted his hunting, insteadt just flew up into a tree for a clean while I loitered around below him.

Looks like I still have some issues with focussing – so more work to be done there.

But happy with these images.

Cheers Dave

Point Cartwright, Sunshine Coast, Queensland Sunrise   3 comments

Managed to get up and on the road by 3.30am for the (1.5hour) drive up the coast to Caloundra to capture Sunrise from Point Cartwright on Wednesday (25-04).

Driving up, we could see there was some heavey cloud to the east, but hopeful it would lift to give some colour with the predawn/sunrise.

This is what we captured.

The Predawn

A little later, the sun can be seen on the horizon.

Taken with 7D, and 17-55lens, using Cokin Graduated filters.

Cheers Dave

Sunrise Manly Boat Harbour   1 comment

Got up today at 4.00 something, in quest of a Sunrise, with no thoughts for the Easter Bunny, we were off.

Decided as there was hardly any clouds, to head to Manly Boat Harbour, on the coast east of Brisbane.

The following image was made up of 3 seperate exposures, 3 stops apart, merged using the HDR process, in a quest t okeep the details in the boats.

Taken with 7D, 17-55 Lens, ND8 filter,and 2 x Cokin Graduated filters.
