Carnarvon Gorge – The trees   Leave a comment

One of the most beautiful things about a place like this is the nature – and trees from a big part of that.

The was some very impressive tall trees here – and that in it self became a challenge to show off their majestic height.

Below is my attempt to capture this.

Some of the trees had interesting trunks.

Still on a buzz from being in this awesome place – need to go back and explore more.

A few more photos tonight, this time from part of the Gorge itself – a magic place.

I was standing next to this tree trying to get another photo of the Kookaburra, when this parrot landed only about a metre away.

Carnarvon Gorge – Awesome Part of Australia   2 comments

I was lucky to get out to Carnarvon Gorge last weekend – after a short 9 hour drive got there Friday just after lunch, do the maths backwards – was an early start.

Awesome is the only way to describe it.

Everything from beautiful nature, wildlife, and the Gorge itself is stunning – long bushwalks with so much to see – the 3 nights, 2 full days we were there was definitely not long enough.

First up just some random photos, and then I will get more organised and break it up into different themes for some more posts over the coming weeks.

A Random Bird Post   Leave a comment

I just realised it was January 1st, when I posted last.

I have been taking photos but posting them on my facebook page or 500PX

Anyway, I was recently out at Lake Maraboon, near Emerald in Queensland and was happy with the abundance of bird life

Girraween Kookaburras   Leave a comment

We recently spent the long weekend camping at Girraween National Park, with some great friends.

As always looking to photograph everything of interest there.

Below are some of the Kookaburra photos I took.

In Flight

This one was taken just before the one above, and it is the baby taking off, after the parent gave it a Lizard it had just caught.

Then there is this one, could not resist the Jekyll/Hyde comparrison.

All taken with the 7D and 70-200 lens.

Still a heap more photos to process.

Hope you like them.

Cheers Dave

Powerfest Lake Dyer in Laidley, Queensland post 1 “The Boats”   Leave a comment

Sunday, it is 4.30am and the alarm has just gone off, it is the middle of winter and it is cold, why am I up?

Because the gates to Powerfest open at 6.30, and we need to pick some friends up and get there early for a good spot on the edge of Lake Dyer, to see and hopefully capture the action of Power Boat Racing.

Powerfest is good, because there is also a Hot Rod Show and other displays to look at, will progressively post photos over the next few days of the different images I captured .

Today will be the Power Boats .

Most taken with Canon 7D and 70-200mm lens, a longer lens would have been good as these are all fairly large crops from the actual photo taken.
